This is one of those movies where I really wish I could get a chance to interview the makers. I’m not sure who needs to be interviewed, but someone needs to be asked “how did this come to be?!” I tend to think that a movie like this is so genius that it must be someone’s dream come true. It’s so not hollywood that it must be someone’s pet project that they were writing in their garage for 15 years waiting for everything to be exactly right.
And believe me, there is so much that is exactly right about this movie. There are so many amazing performances from talent early in their careers.
Paul Giamatti’s role alone could make this movie worth being watched. I wish there was a version of this movie where I could watch just the parts of this movie that include Veal Chop. I mean, come on… Veal Chop! I mean this character would be awesome enough just for the sheer volume of Zubas that he wears.
(Quick side note before I go on… Why are there so few images on the internet taken from this movie. There must be dozens of great moments that need to be documented and added to the internet immediately. Only the upcoming image is of any relevance for me).
Best part of the movie for me is when Steve Zahn and Sam Rockwell are taped to each other face to face. I swear, I was laughing at that the entire time. I could barely listen to the storyline, i was too busy laughing.
Steve Zahn plays the classic Steve Zahn role in this movie. Here’s the thing: he’s played this role in something like a half dozen movies, but I’ll be honest… THATS NOT ENOUGH! I need a ton more of that character in my life. He is soooooo funny. It hits the exact part of my brain that I love most; the slapstick part.
Lets not forget to mention Mark Ruffalo as the actual Safe Man. He was so amazing. I loved the interactions with him and his fellow thief, Josh Pais. I could have used even more of that. To be honest, I could have used more of this movie. It had been a while since I’ve watched it, and I’m glad I got back in there.
Hello,
Can you tell me about some great movies released this year? Many thanks in advance for your help!
